Upon admiring a hand made ceramic plate in a shop, the image of a large wooden plate with guests gathered around came to mind. With that inspiration, the design challenge was how to hold this wooden plate off the ground. Again inspired by vintage furniture, and early modernist architecture, the form of the legs delicately holding the plate in the air took shape.
I am so happy with the design! I loved making this table. It required a lot of work with hand tools. I feel so connected to the wood, when the tool in hand becomes my eyes, as I feel though it, the shape I am creating.
Made from quarter sawn American oak and lots of love.
